Master Chief Eric D. Stowe, a native of Fayette, Alabama, graduated from Fayette County High School and enlisted under the delayed entry program in September 1990. He enlisted as a Seaman Recruit, completing Recruit Training, Radioman "A" and "C" Schools in San Diego, California.

Shore duty assignments include Naval Air Facility Washington DC as Communications Operator from 1991 through 1993, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Yokosuka Japan as Communications Watch Officer 1998 through 2001, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific (NCTAMS PAC) Hawaii as Video Teleconferencing Leading Chief for U.S. Pacific Command from 2006 through 2009 and Memphis Military Entrance Processing Station as Command Master Chief from 2013 through 2016.

Sea duty assignments include USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG-58) as Communications Watch Officer from 1993 through 1998, USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) as Information Systems Control Leading Chief from 2001 through 2005 and Commander, Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE (CDS-31) Pearl Harbor, HI as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and Information Assurance Manager from 2010 through 2013; he also completed a Global War on Terrorism Support Assignment serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader and Information Systems Warfare Officer for NAVCENT Forward Headquarters Kuwait Reception, Staging, Onward Movement and Integration (RSO&I) from 2009 through 2010.

Master Chief received his Associates Degree in Information Technology from Excelsior College New York, New York in February 2008, graduated from the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy-Class 169 in October 2012 and completed the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Navy Senior Enlisted Leadership Capstone Course in September 2013. He is also certified as a CompTIA Network and Security Plus Professional. He was selected for Command Senior Chief in January 2012 and Command Master Chief in May 2015.

Master Chief Stowe assumed the duties as VX-9’s Command Master Chief January 2017.


Personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy Achievement Medal (2), Good Conduct Medal (7), and numerous campaign and unit awards.
